Reçan

The region of Reçan is very special because it is mostly inhabited by Kosovo Bosniaks.

In region of the Reçan are located largest number of Kosovo Bosniaks, in Kosovo. 

There are 16 villages of ethnically pure Bosniak Muslim population.

Bosniak villages are themselves very special. They are characterized by old traditions and old culture. 

Bosniak villages are located at the foot of the Shar Mountain, at an altitude of 1000 to 1300 above sea level.

 The tradition of wedding are very special. According to old traditions, women wear make-up patterns, with white paint over their faces, and various symbols such as the sun, the moon and the stars. 

The wedding of Bosniaks is a very beautiful phenomenon that happens, and many tourists come to see such weddings. Weddings are characterized by drums and trumpets that play folk songs.

Most villages maintain the tradition of a village “Sunet Svadba“, circumcision.

Circumcision of children is performed at the village level and lasts for 3 days.
On the first day, the drummers come and the children are taken to a wide place such as a stadium, and after welcoming drummers they have a parade through the village.
Then in the evening is a concert with the Bosniak singers.
On the second day, children are circumcised, according to the old tradition, with a barber going from house to house, and for hygienic reasons now in the village clinic, where surgeons perform circumcision.
Then in the evening there is a concert of ilahi with famous hafiz and famous choirs of ilahi.
On the third day, the traditional games called “Pelivani” where two mens are coated in edible oils, and they are beating up in traditional way.
There is also running, as well as throwing stones from the shoulders, and pulling the rope.
